Equine Osteopathy – For Better Movement and Well-Being

Bente Krüger – Icelandic Horse Trainer & Certified Equine Osteopath Since 2013

The health and well-being of the horse have always been at the heart of Bente Krüger’s work. As the owner of Stutteri Vestkysten, an experienced Icelandic horse trainer, and a certified equine osteopath, she combines extensive expertise with a trained eye for movement, rideability, and the individual needs of each horse.

Bente completed her training in equine osteopathy at the Pferdeosteopathie Zentrum Islandpferdegestüt Holtdorftal in Germany and qualified in 2013. Since then, she has been helping horses and their owners with preventive care, rehabilitation, and the treatment of musculoskeletal issues.

Osteopathic treatment can be used both preventively and therapeutically. Its aim is to identify movement restrictions at an early stage, release blockages, and improve the horse’s natural mobility. Equine osteopathy can also provide valuable support for horses suffering from chronic conditions.

When is osteopathic treatment recommended?

Treatment may be beneficial in cases of:

* Irregular gait or rhythm issues
* Rideability problems
* Stiffness in movement
* Difficulties with bending and flexion
* After a fall or accident
* Back problems
* Signs of pain during work or under saddle

What does a treatment involve?

Each treatment begins with a thorough assessment of the horse in motion. The horse is observed either in hand or under saddle. This is followed by a comprehensive hands-on examination of the entire body.

Areas of tension, restricted movement, and possible blockages are identified and treated using gentle osteopathic techniques. Where necessary, joints and tissues are mobilized to restore natural movement and support the body’s self-healing abilities.

If appropriate, the owner will receive individual exercises and recommendations to continue at home over the following days to support long-term improvement.
